Still hope for Stargate Universe, from my end anyway.   Leave a comment

As we all know Stargate Universe has been cancelled. MGM has said there’ll be no films for SGU, SG-1, or SGA. But I think if we all get togehter now, as the “final” episodes are airring, we need to tell BOTH Syfy and MGM that we all love the show & franchise and will do a lot to keep it alive. Send your picture to the Stargate Collage that’s out there and we can send it to Syfy and MGM. We also need to tell (more) friends and people online to tune in.

Also, another form of hope is; althought these are apperenlty the finaly episodes, I think the fact that the show is going to end on a cliffhanger will make even none hardcore fans angry & want more, so we’ll get more people on our side.

So, lets ge to work.

It’s SGU night Down Under again!   Leave a comment

Hello all, I’m just reminding Aussie Stargate Universe fans can see Twin Destinies at 8:30 PM on Sci-Fi Australia and here’s a clip and a trailer:

First the trailer:

And if you want more, here’s the clip:

And for those of us who don’t have Pay TV don’t for get to tune into the Stargate Universe season 1 episode Space on Channel Eleven also at 8:30 PM.

Why do you love SGU?   1 comment

OK SGU fans, I started this blog to link all Stargate sites, fan sites or otherwise, 1 to make it easy for people find things all thing Stargate and 2 to show how many people love Stargate. So, give me your thoughts on Stargate Universe and way you love it and I’ll make a post that we’ll have to try and get Syfy to read so they can see how many fans the show has.

So the things I’d like from you are:

1. Why you like (or love) SGU.

2. Plot lines and character back stories you like to see resolved/explored more.

3. If you’ve been a fan of the whole Stargate Franchise for years, what sort of effect it’s had on you, if you’re willing to tell.

So if you do want to send something in I’ll be breaking it into sections, such as

The Cast: (for example) I personally love their talent on screen, but the fun they have behind off screen, at conventions, out for dinner together, (and I’ll insert a picture of them having that fun).

The Writing: (another example) I think it’s braver than other shows when it has things like Scott talking about getting the mother of his child pregnant at sixteen, and then we meet the young Scott. And (apparently) it was brave, and controversial to make Camile be a Lesbian, (I don’t see why there was such out burst about it though, there a Lesbian and Gay people out there and it’s time for people to live with it. Sorry, personal thing there). There are many more, and you can let me know which ones you like.

The Directing: (example) SG-1 and SGA had fantastic directing over the years and SGU has lived up to that level of wonderful directing.

The Visual Effects: (Example) I personally think the CGI  really out does a lot of what was done on the other shows, and the CGI for them was brilliant! But Mark Savela and his team do consistently brilliant jobs.

The Music: (example) I’ve been a Joel Goldsmith for years and some of the pieces of music in SGU are extraordinary! I knew the score for the series was in good hands when it was announced that that Joel was going to be scoring it. I also knew we were in for a treat when I was watching the first episode and saw the first shot of SGU, and then the music when the team were escaping through the Gate to The Destiny, then when Young ordered the scientists to attempt to dial home, then when Scott was woken up by the water bed and had to collect the lime and run for the Gate and all that was in episode 1! Joel’s kept up the same standards with this music for the whole series.

So send me your thoughts (and maybe suggestions for other sections) to my E-mail address rhys@ecoman.com.au please subject it as ‘why I love SGU’ or something along those line.

Personally I still get excited watching this. The music really helps, it’s superb.

Stargate Universe season 2 episode 11 on Sci-FI Australia tonight.   Leave a comment

OK Australia, Stargate Universe’s ‘Deliverance’ is being delivered to your (pay-tv) television on Sci-FI Australia (sorry about the terrible joke at the beginning). So what I’m asking you to do is tune into one of SGU’s best episodes to date tonight at 8:30 PM. If you need some reminding on what happened at the end of the season watch episode 10 on Sci-Fi’s catch up service: http://www.scifitv.com.au/Spectrum/#/FullEpisodes-StargateUniverse/C3B34950/sgu-season-2-episode-10 (you can only catch it for one day).

Please tune in and tell Sci-Fi you enjoyed it. Also if you can ask your friends to watch it for the next ten weeks (or is that nine? It is after this one).

If you don’t have pay-tv you can catch the season 1 episode 10 ‘Justice’ on Channel 11: http://eleven.com.au/stargate-universe.htm

Also, ask Syfy if they could get SGU on the Australian iTunes store, that will be another way to help the show.

Stargate Universe’s season 2 episode 11 Deliverance.   Leave a comment

Hello everyone, here’s just a quick little post. OK, first off Syfy have released that ratings for the return of the back half of season 2. After all the hard work that myself and a lot of other Stargate Universe fans were tweeting, blogging, and asking friends to watch the show the ratings are a rather low 1.036.000. It may be slightly low, but I think it’s still good, I mean not many people have left the show, so the interest is still there. If you’d like to know the ratings compered to season 2.0 see below:

Intervention: 1.175.000
Aftermath: 1.070.000
Awakening: 1.222.000
Pathogen: 974.000
Cloverdale: 1.010.000
Trial and Error: 967.000
The Greater Good: 1.074.000
Malice: 1.025.000
Visitation: 1.169.000
Resurgence: 1.094.000
Deliverance: 1.036.000

Fans can still boost ratings on other channels, such as Space Channel in Canada, Channel Eleven, or Sci-Fi Australia and hopefully that will help too. Tune in to Space tonight can catch Deliverance.

And to entice you, no spoilers, and please don’t expect to be wowed yourself, I was, but don’t get too excited, you might be let down. But I will say that this episode really does bring you back into the fold of SGU. From the amazing acting, to Joel Goldsmith’s superb score it is one of the best Stargate episodes, not just from Universe. For the people who didn’t watch much of the show and don’t like watching brilliant actors doing their jobs and just want to see space ships blow up, there’s plenty of action! But as well as action, there is some beautiful drama, amazingly written character scenes, and the superb cast gets to show why they became actors, because they are. But please tune in (every week) and get your own opinion.

Also, tell MGM how much we love the show their work on it so far. We need to convince them to try and keep the show alive.
